Another fabulous season of Santa visits hosted by the Rotary Club of Bolsover has now come to an end. Read on for more details and pictures…
Starting with the Lantern Parade in Bolsover the members of Bolsover Rotary have escorted Santa around the area for the month or so leading up to Christmas. To come full circle, Santa returned to Bolsover Market Place on Saturday 23 December, to be welcomed by hundreds of children and they in turn received a present from the old gentleman.
He had a kind word for all and was assisted by many members of the Rotary Club and at the request of patrons and staff of The Pillar of Rock he made a detour on his way to Lapland to hand out gifts to a children’s Christmas party at that well known hostelry near to the castle.
In the last month he has visited The Pavements shopping centre in Chesterfield on 6 days and spent three days in Sainsbury’s store. He also visited parties in West Lea, Clowne and at Bainbridge Hall, Bolsover. Altogether he has spoken to hundreds of children and been photographed thousands of times by happy parents and grandparents.
Most importantly he has helped the Rotary Club to raised over £3500 for their charity fund, which is used to support needy causes both locally and wider afield. Every single penny raised will go to the Charity fund. President Rita and all the members of Bolsover Rotary Club want to express their thanks to the many people who have donated and made the time they have spent worthwhile for everyone. Thanks also to the managements of The Pavements and Sainsbury’s for their help and support.
See you all again next Christmas!
