From The President

On behalf of all of my fellow members of The Rotary Club of Bolsover, I welcome you to our Club website.

Following the successes of Paula Weighill’s year in office, we follow on in 2026/27 with great optimism for Bolsover Rotary, and the communities we help, despite the difficult times that everyone is experiencing.

I’m proud of the fact that despite being a relatively small club, we are very active, and do not have to carry any passengers. It is an important element of Club activities that we should have fun – and we do.

This year, I am delighted to be able to welcome our first ever Corporate member as my first official job. We look forward to working with George Buchanan and his team at Creswell Heritage Trust to benefit both organisations and the wider community we serve.

The Committee Chairs for my year all understand that we must continue to develop our links with the growing population in the area, and have developed plans setting out how they can contribute to the continued success of Bolsover Rotary.

We are delighted that Bolsover’s MP, Natalie Fleet has agreed to remain an Honorary Member of Bolsover Rotary and we look forward to welcoming her to more events throughout the year. Many congratulations to Natalie on her appointment to the Government as Safeguarding Minister.

We are also pleased that Rob Lee, the proprietor of our meeting base, Twin Oaks Hotel, to has agreed to stay as an honorary member.

Of course, as you have come to expect of Bolsover Rotary, our traditional community support will continue, spearheaded by our very successful Community Grants scheme. We have now been able to extend the reach of this scheme, and our other activities, to include Shirebrook

Geographically, we cover a wide area, including Staveley and Inkersall where we have been involved in community activities in the last few years.  We continue to widen our activities to include other parts of our area, and we have lots of ideas for future events. If you have something you think we should be involved in, please let us know.

We are always looking for new members, who have the enthusiasm and community spirit to become good Rotarians. If you want a challenge, why not think about how you can contribute to The Rotary Effect in Bolsover and the surrounding communities?

If you have a business in the area, like Creswell Heritage Trust, you might consider Corporate Membership, which would help you develop closer links to the community we share. It will also help to achieve your Corporate Social responsibilities (CSR) by providing opportunites for employees to become involved in community projects.

Contact me by email on president@bolsover-rotary.org.uk  if you would like to come to a club night as our guest. We can guarantee you a very warm welcome.

Richard Drabble
