On Tuesday 24 May we spent a very pleasant evening on a visit to Hall Farm, Linby, Nottinghamshire. The farm has been home to the Hardstaff family for 300 years, and they are now on their 9th generation of farmers. Michael, the latest generation to run the farm, gave us lots of information about how the farm operates and how they literally feed into the supply chain with their range of crops.
Around 30 of us were taken, in reasonable comfort, by tractor and trailer, around the 2,000 acre farm, seeing asparagus in various stages of maturity, potatoes, winter wheat and carrots. They also farm land near Newark, and supply sugar beet to the refinery at Newark.
The family are justifiably proud of their heritage in farming, and take great care to protect their environment and local wildlife, while taking a very professional approach to modern farming.

After the tour on a very pleasant sunny evening, we were introduced to the collection of vintage tractors and farm machinery which is has been collected and maintained on site by James Hardstaff.
