President Paul Copper was delighted to represent the Bolsover Rotary at the recent unveiling of a stone bench in front of Bolsover Library, in honour of Farm Labourer and Writer Fred Kitchen. Fred was a Yorkshireman, but spent his last 10-15 years in Bolsover and was also the caretaker at a local school.
His books are all written in the local language and include many familiar and past slang sayings.
There is an homage to Fred at the Bolsover Library where photos, drawings and clips from the various books are all laid out to give an insight to anyone who may be interested.
As well as Bolsover Rotary President, Paul Copper , others who supported, donated and welcomed the bench included NAL Plant, Bolsover Council, Bolsover Civic Society and others.
When you’re next in Bolsover, go and sit, read and take a moment with this beautiful work of art.
