The meeting of Bolsover Rotary on June 8th was a time to celebrate a new member, as well as the achievement and commitment of a longstanding member.
President Paul Copper welcomed John Bowskill to membership of Bolsover Rotary.
John is a long-standing member of Rotary International having joined Sunderland Rotary Club in 1983, and served as President of that Club twice since then.
A local lad, he was born in Retford. He and his wife have chosen to relocate to Bolsover to be closer to family in retirement.
President Paul expressed the delight of all Bolsover Rotarians in welcoming John into the club.
At the same meeting, President Paul also presented Past-President Margaret Scott with a Paul Harris Fellow award. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute to the work of Rotary. In Bolsover Rotary we use it to mark the exemplary demonstration of the ideals of Rotary.
Margaret was inducted to Bolsover Rotary in 2012 by the then President Leigh Holland, and very quickly became Treasurer in 2013-14, a role she has retained until today, with only one exception in 2018-19 when she was herself elected President of the Club.
She is always ready to play her part in Club activities and can regularly be seen cooking crepes and running raffles at fund-raising and social events.
She supported our late founder member and Past President, Frank Clifford, in his last few years, collecting him from home in Newbold, to bring him to Ringwood Hall Hotel for our weekly Rotary meetings and ensuring he got back safely.
She has demonstrated the Rotary ideals throughout her membership and was congratulated by all the members on her well deserved award.
