Chris Toyne, the President of The Rotary Club of Bolsover, welcomed the District Governor Colin Gell when he recently visited the club.
In welcoming the Governor Chris spoke of Colin’s service to Rotary and congratulated him on a very successful District Conference in Scarborough. He also reminded Colin that as with previous governors he was always welcome to attend meetings and events in the Club’s area.
The District Governor congratulated the Club on activities in the local and international communities and added, “you may not be the largest club in members but you punch well above your numbers”. He made special reference to community activities such as Santa’s Sleigh, Staveley Armed Forces Days, Bolsover Gala Lantern Parade and Christmas Festival. He went on to say that while Rotary faced problems. with the example set by this club Rotary International was well placed to face a long and worthwhile future based on the overriding goal of service to all.
After a general question and answer debate, the President thanked Colin for accepting the Club’s invitation to attend the club and looked forward to other visits in the future.
