On August 5th 2023, Bolsover Rotary was delighted to play a major part in arranging and delivering the wedding celebrations for Past President Richard Drabble and Rebecca.
Rotary is, of course, very used to organising events, and several months previously Richard asked members if they would arrange the various aspects of the wedding in return for a suitable donation to our charity account.
Pictured are Richard and Rebecca arriving at their wedding party welcomed by a “guard of honour” of Rotarians in their straw boaters.
Very soon, members were working hard to arrange decorations and flowers for the venue, food for the reception, and a bar for the party. We decided that our “uniform” for the event should include staw boaters, with which we could salute the happy couple on their arrival from the ceremony.
Thankfully, everyone, including most importantly Richard and Rebecca, thought the event was a great success. It was yet another example on Rotary working together to achieve a great result.
