Sixties Singing Star plays in bolsover for the first time

Bolsover Rotary were very proud to host the first ever concert in Bolsover by Sixties star Dave Berry on Saturday 10 June 2023.

Dave Berry and the Cruisers entertained an audience who came from far and wide, with favourites, including Dave’s major sixties hit The Crying Game. A queue began forming in the sunshine outside the Bolsover Assembly Rooms long before the doors opened. The venue was an ideal location to host Dave Berry’s performance. It provided a spacious and comfortable environment, allowing the audience to enjoy the music and engage with the artist.

Rotary President Graham Weighill welcomed everyone to this unique event and the show opened with a set from the Chris Firminger Band, who showed their musical skills to great effect with an hour’s worth of hits.
The audience in Bolsover then exhibited a tremendous response to Dave Berry’s performance. They enthusiastically applauded, sang along, and even danced to the music.

Dave Berry provided merchandise for fans to buy, as well as donating a signed guitar which was raffled, along with other great prizes:

  • A signed football, donated by Manchester United and signed by their players
  • A bottle of House of Commons Speaker Hoyle’s Malt Whisky signed by Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, donated by Mark Fletcher, MP
  • A Google Chromecast, donated by Connect Fibre, who are currently installing a Hyperfast broadband network in Bolsover.

Dave Berry’s first concert in Bolsover can be deemed a resounding success. The event attracted a substantial number of attendees, and the artist’s stellar performance left a lasting impression on the audience. The evening was great fun, and also raised almost £600 for the Rotary Club’s Charity Trust Fund, and will support local good causes in our community . Thanks to everyone who supported the event, and made it such a success.
