Bolsover Rotarian and Past President, Graham Weighill was awarded one of Rotary’s highest honours by the District Governor.
Graham was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by District 1220 Governor Richard Vergette at the District Handover dinner on Friday 28 June 2024.
Richard began the evening by outlining some of Graham’s splendid achievements in aid of Rotary Foundation, which have included completing a sponsored fire-walk, a wing-walking challenge and a sponsored canal boat pull. Graham’s exploits have also benefited other local charities who shared the proceeds.
Bolsover Rotary was also nominated at the event for the award for best use of Social Media, and the Bolsover Community Grants Scheme was also nominated as one of the best Community Projects.
For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end. The Paul Harris Fellow award is the highest accolade that can be given by Rotary, both to Rotarians or to others, who have demonstrated these elements of service.
The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.
