Rotary remembers Queen Elizabeth II and honours our new King

Members of Bolsover Rotary, along with Rotarians throughout Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, were deeply saddened to learn of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

The late Queen demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to duty throughout her long Reign and did so with a graceful strength and admirable determination. She was the epitomy of the Rotary motto “Service Above Self” and an example for us all to emulate.

She ruled throughout decades of change, from the dark post-war years, through to the new horizons of the 21st century, providing essential continuity for the nation.

At the same time, we are excited at the prospect of a new Monarch and the changes that may bring. King Charles III is an honorary Rotarian (Rotary Club of Banchory Ternan in Scotland). He was also presented with the Rotary Award of Honour by the then Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta, at the Commonwealth Heads of Government conference in Rwanda in June 2022, to mark his commitment to the environment.

We have every confidence that His Majesty will continue supporting humanitarian causes that He and the late Queen have historically advanced.

God save the King.
