We join all fellow Rotarians in District 1220 in wishing Rotarian Syed Iftikhar (known as Ifti) a very successful and enjoyable year as High Sheriff starting on 1st April 2026.

For many years Ifti has been a prominent member of Rotary and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in 2006 for his work and contributions and was further honoured in 2014 for service above and beyond.

As well as being well known for his work in the medical profession in the Derby area he has also been recognised for the huge amount of work he has done for the people of Pakistan especially following on from the devastating earthquake in Kashmir in north Pakistan in 2005 and the floods in the Sindh province of Pakistan in 2010.

Ifti spends gives a huge amount of his own time providing medical assistance and surgery to people in Pakistan where in conjunction with colleagues from the Midlands Doctors Association he was responsible for the foundation of the Midland Doctor Medical Institute in Muzaffarabad.
