Planting Crocuses for “End Polio”

On Friday 15th November, President John Bowskill was joined at Eastwood Park Calow, by fellow members of Bolsover Rotary and members of the local community including from the Calow Community Gardening Group, to plant 4000 purple crocus bulbs.

Each year Bolsover Rotary plant the crocus bulbs around the local area,to mark the Rotary International ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.
Rotary has been working to eradicate Polio for over 35  years, over which time cases have reduced by 99.9%, but the fight goes on to deliver the final blow and eradicate this horrific disease completely, and forever.

Planting of the bulbs also enhances the look of the local area and hopefully there will be a wonderful display of crocus flowers for the community to enjoy in early spring 2025.

This is just one of the many activities Bolsover Rotary members do throughout the year to raise funds for the benefit of our local community, if you would like to join us in our camaraderie and fun fundraising efforts, why not get in touch via our website or social media pages. We would be delighted and look forward to meeting you in the near future.
