When a coach full of Cardiff City supporters arrived in Bolsover, they weren’t expecting to ask Santa for a win – but he delivered.
Santa was visiting the town, to distribute presents to children, with his friends from Bolsover Rotary, when a group of Cardiff City supporters stopped by on their way to Hillsborough. It was a lucky meeting for them, as their team went on to beat Sheffield Wednesday by 2 goals to 1.
The jolly crowd were very generous in their support of the Rotary charity collection, boosting the amount donated by the kind residents of Bolsover and the surrounding areas, in the run up to Christmas to over £3,400. This will all go into the Bolsover Rotary Charity account to support needy causes over the next 12 months.
Santa arrived on a fire engine and Bolsover MP, Mark Fletcher, who is an Honorary Member of Bolsover Rotary, joined the the crowd to welcome Santa to the town.
Later, Santa moved to Wetherspoon’s Pillar of Rock, where he added to the festive mood and met the staff and customers.
Joint Rotary Presidents David Coupe and Geoff Woodhead thanked the community for their support, and wished everyone a wonderful Christmas. Bolsover Rotary will be in action around the area again throughout 2024, so look out for details of events.
