What is World Polio Day?

Every year on World Polio Day, the global community comes together to renew its commitment to ending one of humanity’s longest-running public health efforts. Led by Rotary International, Rotarians and partners around the world organize events, campaigns, and discussions to raise awareness and resources for the final push to eradicate polio — once and for all.

Since Rotary pioneered the global fight to end polio in 1985, cases have fallen by 99.9%, saving more than 20 million children from paralysis.

Ending polio remains our number one humanitarian goal. Our progress so far is one of the world’s greatest public health achievements, and Rotary members have been at its heart.

But our work isn’t done, and “almost” isn’t close enough. Polio still exists in a few regions, and until it is gone everywhere, it remains a threat to children everywhere.

Your continued support, through advocacy, fundraising, and awareness, ensures vaccines reach every last child.

Together, we’ve changed the course of history. Together, we will end polio for good.
