Bolsover Rotary held another of their unique Fun Race Nights on 28th February 2026, and it was a huge success.
Forget videos and electronics, this was a physical, interactive event, with plenty of audience participation. Rotarians and guests gathered in the marquee at Twin Oaks Hotel, and enjoyed an excellent pie & peas supper, served by the Hotel’s staff, halfway through the evening’s racing.
There was a Tote for those who enjoy a flutter while cheering their horse to the winning-post.
Once again, Rotarians, dressed as jockeys, guided the horses along the course, in accordance with the magic dice thrown by younger members of the audience. Past President Richard Drabble supervised the racing, and thanked everyone who was involved in the success of the evening, including, of course, the staff at Twin Oaks Hotel.
Of course, it was all in aid of Rotary charities, and the evening made around £1,000 for the Charity account, after all the expenses had been paid.
