On a warm Saturday evening the Shirebrook Miners Welfare Band entertained a capacity audience at the Assembly Hall in Bolsover. The event was part of a continuing programme of music jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Bolsover and the Inner Wheel of Bolsover.

The Band was led by Cathryn-Jane Rogers conducting and provided fantastic ‘foot tapping’, entertainment for their spectators playing from traditional to modern popular music such as; Marches, easy Listening Overtures, West End and Broadway Musical Classics, Past and Present Chart Hits, Old and New Movie Theme Tunes as well as soloist and duet items which feature different sections of the band.
Refreshments were available and a raffle was held with many people going home with prizes donated by local individuals and charity organisations. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital Birth Centre by both the organising clubs. A further concert is planned to be held at the same venue in the Autumn.
